Kilimanjaro Expedition Dispatches

Kilimanjaro Supermoon Climb

Lemosho Traverse, August 2 – 15, 2014

On August 10th the full moon will be closer to the Earth than usual causing a phenomenon known as a “Supoermoon”. Our group of 6 climbers from Brazil, the United States and Canada will have the chance to experience this dramatic moon, from high camp, while it rises just shortly after 6 PM as the sun is setting over the shoulder of Kilimanjaro. Our team of adventurers will travel along the plains of Tanzania, to the rainforests and dry alpine deserts, up to the glacial artic conditions at the top of the highest point in Africa; the summit of Kilimanjaro (19,340ft/5,895m).

After the climb two team members Jonathan and Jordan Aibel will embark on an amazing luxury wildlife safari. They will spend their first night in Tarangire Treetops amidst its huge baobab trees and large elephant herds. Next they will spend one evening in the Ang’ata Camp located near the crater rim of the Ngorongoro Conservation area which will be an ideal spot for their early morning game drives into the Ngorongoro crater.

Follow our daily dispatches as we document these two trips of a lifetime in one all the way from Tanzania!
