Kilimanjaro Expedition Dispatch
February 27, 2014 – From Mti Kubwa to Shira Camp
Hello, this is Rose-Eve, code name Princess! We are coming up from Gogo Tembo, having come up from the Elephant’s Back, as we go along the ridge over to Shira Camp. Everybody is doing well. We have a good time last night! Our appetites are still good. We are finding out that we can walk very steep trails in altitude. We are almost learning the songs that all the porters can sing and there is lots of dancing! Tomorrow we go up to Moir Hut.
We went up to 13,000 feet climbing today, but we will go down to sleep at Shira Camp today which is just over 11,000 feet and then tomorrow we go up to about 14,000 feet on preparation for getting used to the altitude.
Emmanuel:
Well that was Rose-Eve and she is happy! She is happy because today we went from Mti Kubwa (Big Tree Camp) and we are still on our way to get to Shira 1 Camp. The place we call Gogo Tembo in English it means the Elephants Back.
The other people have already gone ahead now and me and Rose-Eve, I call her my Princess; one hour later we will be at the Shira Camp.
Everyone is doing good!
