March 2, 2008 – Off to Mount Meru for the Day
Today is March 2, our first day in Arusha. We got up and had an orientation with our staff and got some beer ready to go to a mountain for the day. We did something we always love to do; we went to Mount Meru foothills to hike and stretch our legs and get some familiarity with the culture around Arusha. Mt. Meru is also a great way to climb higher and see some of the beautiful natural wonders of this area. It was an amazing day and a great hike. Among many of the highlights; one was seeing some of the children along the trail and villages as we walked.
Visiting a school high above Arusha on the slopes of Mount Meru was also a highlight. We also enjoyed going into a natural area and finding a beautiful secluded water fall. Over all, a spectacular day!
We came back tired, but enough energy for a welcome dinner at one of our favorite restaurants in Arusha. We then went to bed early, a little tired from the travel.
Most importantly aware that everyday is going to hold an adventure here and even more excited for the days to come.
