Kilimanjaro Expedition Dispatch
January 24, 2013 – Made it Across the Barranco Wall
Jambo, from Mt. Kili! This is Bob. We are having a great time! We made it across the Barranco Wall today. What camp are we at? (Guide: Karanga) We are at Karanga Camp. It’s cold at night, but absolutely beautiful. We’re looking at the lights at Moshi right now; absolutely lovely.
We’re doing well, the (poor transmission) are good, and our health is good. Dean will make a presentation on altitude sickness when he gets back. And we all intend to make sure that he can’t use us as examples. So, we’re staying hydrated, and listening to everything that our guides are telling us. We take oximeters readings every night to watch what we’re doing.
The only thing I can say is that as we adjust to altitude I’m guessing our sense of smell must be going down because I can’t smell body odor on anybody. But, we’ve been up here for five days so I know we all stink. I just don’t know why I can’t smell it.
Food’s been good, everything’s been good and we’re having a great time.
See everybody soon, and thanks for checking!
