March 18, 2009 – Mike Climbs Lava Tower

Hello this Mike and it’s Wednesday March 18, 2009. I’m calling you now from the top of Lava Tower which is at 15,090 ft/ 4,600 m).

I enjoyed a fantastic lunch at base of the tower and then we began the climb. Today has been my favorite day of trekking and mountaineering so far. We are into the alpine desert zone and the scenery is just beautiful.

The top of Kilimanjaro is getting closer and everything is going really well.
