Why climb with Berg Adventures

Kilimanjaro Expedition Dispatch

September 30, 2008 – Amazing Animals Are Abundant!

Hello this is Linda! We are on our third day of our fabulous safari. We went to the Ngorongoro Crater today. We left early in the morning at 6:00 am and got to the Crater floor. We saw tons and tons of animals all around. For instance we saw the Cape buffalo, the Thomson’s gazelle, hyenas, warthogs, the grant’s gazelle and the antelope. We then stopped at Lake Manyara for breakfast at around 9:00 am and saw a hippo pool and a lioness with two males and two of her cubs. We were very fortunate to see them! We also saw about 2 thousand wildebeests in the hills and a baboon nursery as well which made us all laugh!

We are all well and are getting rested after our Kilimanjaro climb and we are having a lot of fun on our safari. Everyone says hi to their loved ones and friends back home. We will be home soon but we are certainly enjoying our driver David and our safari experience. It’s like watching National Geographic only with T.V. screens all around!

Hippos enjoying a cool swim in the pool. Hippos on average weigh about 3000 kgs! Their bodies overheat easy so they love to cool off in the pools.
