Kilimanjaro Expedition Dispatch
October 2, 2008 – Team Bids Farewell to Part of Their Group
Hi there, this is Judy calling from the Serengeti Airport. We are just saying goodbye to Gwyn, Deanna, Cathy and Anne as they set off to Arusha and then on to further adventures in Africa.

The Olduvai Gorge is located in the eastern Serengeti
and is about 30 miles long. The gorge is known for
being one of the most important prehistoric sites because
it holds evidence about early human evolution.
We traveled from the Ngorongoro Crater area into the Serengeti yesterday. Ngorongoro was very, very interesting! We had the opportunity to go down into the Olduvai Gorge and see some of the first sightings of man which are footprints in ash that date back to about 3.6 million years ago. It was a fascinating adventure.
David is our trustee. He is a very accomplished guide and driver and has shown us a wonderful time. We have seen everything from hippos to lions, giraffes and so on! It has been a tremendous time visiting the various national parks here in Africa.
Linda, Howard, David and I are going to explore another day today and then we will fly out tomorrow back to Arusha and then on to home. I hope everyone is well at home; we are having a great time and are looking forward to seeing you all.

Our enthusiastic BAI guide and driver, David, is
always a group favourite with his extensive
knowledge of wildlife and his friendly demeanor.
