Kilimanjaro Expedition Dispatch
February 17, 2019 – We Made it to the Summit of Kilimanjaro!
We made it! 1:50pm today 17th February the team made it to the top of Kilimanjaro. Uhuru Peak, it means Freedom Peak in Swahili; the Rooftop of Africa.
Everybody did great. We are back down now at Kosovo Camp, still 16,000ft above sea level. We made a decision not to sleep in the crater. Our 65 Tanzanians staff, support, climbers, cooks, everything and porters of course, are a huge part of this team, we couldn’t have done without them.
We got more photos to send down which we will; remember this is day 7 on a 9 day traverse and descent of Kilimanjaro. We still on the mountain with our team, lots of adventures ahead with our team, including safari.
Sharon Brown is on the way to meet us and we are having a great time on the mountain. We are tired, we are proud, we are pleased to be together as our chief guide in Tanzania Julius says “One Team, one dream, one mountain”.
Today we made it and we’re still having a great time on Kilimanjaro.
