Kilimanjaro Expedition Dispatch

February 12, 2014 – Danny and Hendrik are Doing Great at Barranco Camp!

Danny called in and left a message with the Berg Adventures office today. He reported that they have made it to Barranco camp. Some of the most beautiful views on the Kibo circuit can be seen at this camp located beneath the spectacular Breach Wall where the team will camp for two nights.

Yesterday they began their climb through the old growth forest to their first camp – Umbwe Camp. That is where they spent the night in their cozy tents. Today after a hearty breakfast they climbed up to Barranco camp where they will spend two nights acclimatizing at 13,080 ft (3,987m). Tomorrow the team will spend the day resting at their Barranco camp or they can chose to do a side hike to arrow glacier.

Danny said that he and Hendrik are doing great! They wanted to say hi to all their family and friends and let them know they will be thinking of them as they continue to make their attempt on Mount Kilimanjaro.
