January 23, 2013 – In the Clouds at Lava Tower Camp
Trail to Lava Tower Camp on Day 4
Hello this is Bill. This is day 4. We’re having a great time. We’re at 15,600ft (4,755m) right now and we are in the clouds. We’ve had a little bit of rain this afternoon. Aside from that, the weather has been fantastic.
We’re all holding up and doing well. Today was a short day we only hiked about 4 ½ miles, so I think so far we’re at about 27, 28 miles total. We’re having a great time; we miss everybody back at home. It is very awesome here, the views are fantastic. Starting tomorrow, we’ll go around the mountain. We’re currently on the West side of the mountain and we actually enter the summit on the East side of the mountain. So, for the next few days I will be hiking around the mountain and then getting up to 19.300ft (5,883m).
We’re doing well. Berg is doing great; they treat us very, very well. The food is awesome, and we’re having a great time, so we will talk to you soon!
