Kilimanjaro Expedition Dispatch
August 5, 2010 – Liz and Andrea Leave Tanzania for Home
This morning Liz and Andrea went with their safari guide and driver Jacob from the Arusha Hotel to Kilimanjaro International Airport to begin their journey back home.
They will go to Dar Es Salam this morning and then by Emeritus Air to Dubai, New York and then on to Halifax.
At breakfast at the hotel this morning, they were full of stories from these past two weeks: the long summit morning, success on Uhuru Point and finally an exhausted sleep down at Horombo Camp, the wonderful luxury of the Sopa Lodges in Tarangire where they had been surprised by the staff’s singing presentation of their cake baked in the shape of Kilimanjaro, and at Ngorongoro, where they sat by the large glass window in their room and marvelled at the spectacular view of the Crater.
The girls told us that it seemed remarkable that all this had occurred in only two weeks away from Canada. They are leaving with a sense of satisfaction about the experiences they have just shared in Tanzania and with dreams of more adventures to come in the future.
