January 28, 2010 – Hunting with the Hadzabe People
Hi, it’s Darcy. This morning we went out hunting with some members of the Hadzabe tribe. The Hadzabe bushmen live a hunter-gatherer existence that has changed very little over the past 10,000 years. This is a tribe that grows no food, raises no livestock and does not rely on any calendar. They don’t keep track of their age! We did not get an animal while we were hunting today, but we harvested honey and that in itself was a great experience.
After a good brunch and a rest, we traveled to visit another tribe where I watched the local blacksmith forge some arrowheads. These are traded with the Hadzabe for food! It was an incredible day!
