March 21, 2009 – Mike Reaches the Top of Africa!
Summit of Kilimanjaro
It is Saturday March 21st. This is Mike calling – I just wanted to let everybody know that I reached the summit of Kilimanjaro this morning at approximately 7:00 AM.
I must admit that it is one of the hardest things that I have ever done.
We left at midnight and so it was all in the dark, it was kinda’ cool; it seemed like walking on the moon, a spectacular walk.
I was very tough toward the end, but I made it – I summited!
I want to take this opportunity thanks to Berg Adventures staff in Canmore and here in Arusha .
Special thanks to my guide Elias, who took care of me and looked after me and who helped me get to the top today.
And very special thanks go out to my wife, without you I would not have been able to do this.
