Bolivia Mountain School and “Climb for Paws” Fundraiser
May 28 – June 7, 2014
The snow covered peaks of the Bolivian Andes offer some of the most rewarding mountaineering opportunities in the world. Located 16 degrees south of the equator, these massive glaciated peaks provide incredible climbing prospects with stunning views. To add to the amazing climbing experience, the traditional Bolivian culture is richly fascinating. With the largest percentage of indigenous people in the western hemisphere the country of Bolivia is an amazing place to explore. Follow our two Canadian climbers Micheline Thibodeau and Chris Von Gartzen as they refresh their climbing skills and techniques on a weeklong mountaineering course.
After Micheline spends time in this spectacular high altitude environment working on her mountaineering skills she will embark on a second adventure; climbing Russia’s highest peak Mount Elbrus!
Climb for Paws
Chris Von Gartzen, a longtime friend and Berg Adventures climber, is a passionate volunteer with rescue dogs. Her fundraising climb “Climb for Paws” is a mountaineering expedition planned to combine her two passions; animal rescue and alpine climbing. She climbs hoping to raise awareness for the plight of street dogs around the world and generate much needed funds for two amazing charities “Pets without Vets” and “Potcake Place”.
