Climb the most remote of the Seven Summits with Berg Adventures
Carstensz Pyramid Expedition Dispatches
March 11, 2014 – The Team Summits Carstensz Pyramid!
Hello, Brent calling from the Carstensz Expedition.
Yesterday was a rest day and it turns out we needed it! It rained on and off so we got our gear sorted. We got up this morning at 2 AM and left at about 3 AM. Everyone was feeling well and the weather God’s were smiling on us if you can believe it. There was not a cloud in the sky when we left early in the morning.
All six of us summited along with Meldy and Poxy, our guide counterparts, here. It was a spectacular route. Once we came up to the spectacular ridge there was tremendous exposure and then a 45-50 foot Tyrolean Traverse. Then we took to negotiating the back of a false summit and then finally we went around and the summit came into view.
It was about 12 hours tent to tent. We are all really happy because we got the weather window that we wanted. Imagine climbing this in bad weather! I mean it was challenging in this weather, it throws all sorts of things at you!
So this has been one of the landmark climbs that I have had the privilege to guide and yeah I am really pleased! The team has been performing outstanding!
Congratulations team on your summit success!
