Why climb with Berg Adventures

Kilimanjaro Expedition Dispatch

February 19, 2014 – We Made it to the Summit of Kilimanjaro!

Hi this is Danny Andrade and Hendrik Lesterhuis and we have great news – WE MADE IT, WE MADE IT!!!

We got to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro at 19,340 ft. We came down, but it was snowing when we got up there so it was awesome and we came safely down. We stayed at one of the camps below. We are a little sore a little red from the sum but it was a great adventure. We wish our families, my brother my sister my kids my wife hello. And Hendrik wanted to say hello to his sons he misses them and talks about them daily!

We have some great guides from Berg Adventures; they took really good care of us - truly. We have a really great team and good guides. We are really appreciative of our two guides Emmanuel and Samson in particular were fantastic! We want to put the word out regarding them. The team that he has took take of us and fed us like kings! We aren’t used to that!

We will sign off for now – to our friends and family we miss you and love you!

The team reported there was heavy snow at the top and at the crater which makes for challenging climbing conditions.

Hendrik and Danny reached Gillman’s point and traversed along the crater rim to reach the top of Africa - Uhuru Peak. They then traversed back and descended to their camp by Stella Point.
