Vicious and Delicious Kilimanjaro Climb and Wildlife Safari Dispatch

October 5, 2013 – Vicious and Delicious All Reach the Summit!

From Stella Point

Vicious and Delicious at Stella Point on the crater rim, Roof top of Africa, we reached the top of Kilimanjaro. It only took us 5 hours. Actually Greg keeps correcting me, he has a stop watch, and we were 4 hours and 59 minutes, a remarkable fast ascent rate from our high camp to the crater rim. Now we are up here enjoying the view.

Berg Adventures tradition: when groups arrive to the top, our cook staff, waiters are always there at Stella Point sign with cans of Red Bull, to congratulate the team for their accomplishments and give them a little more energy and actually a little more energy is significant now. We had a great lunch, we had fried chicken, we had soup and now we are going to move on, to cross, I am looking right now at the Uhuru Peak, the very top of Africa, about 350 or 380 feet above us still, there is a sign up there. We decided to move on across, to see if we can walk over to the very top of the crater rim this afternoon and then descend to our Crater Camp. We are proud of the group. We are going to try to send some photos off to you pretty soon, but if not, I will certainly do an audio call back from the summit, on the 5th of October, they did great, congratulations to team Vicious and Delicious.

From Uhuru Peak

It is 2:55 pm, the entire Vicious and Delicious team, all of them are at Uhuru Peak, the very summit of Kilimanjaro. The team did great, I am not sure if we will be able to get photos out today but trust me this team is looking fantastic, really strong, spirits are high. We are going to head down to the Crater Camp. I am really proud of these guys. We will keep you posted about the Crater Camp progress. Congratulations Vicious and Delicious.

From Crater Camp

We are all down at the Crater Camp as I said. The team is actually walking with a bunch of our staff, enjoying getting photographs of the sun on the glaciers. Great day! We are really proud of the Berg Adventures staff and especially proud of the Vicious and Delicious team. We had a great day and we enjoyed being reunited on the top of Kilimanjaro.
