Strohm Family Lemosho Traverse and Safari Dispatch

June 28, 2011 – On to Shira 1 Camp 11,450ft/3489m

Hello, this is Brennen and Scott checking in from Shira 1 Campsite. Yesterday we had lunch at the Lemosho Glades at about 5,500ft. Godfrey is cooking for us some amazing meals, Elias is taking care of us. We hiked through the rainforest all day yesterday. It was beautiful. We saw some impatiens, some colobus monkeys, and then we camped at Big Tree Camp. We had another amazing dinner – this time it was tilapia. It was great.

Then this morning we woke up to the sounds of the colobus monkey and the turaco bird. We’ve been hiking since about 8:30 this morning. Julius and Samwel were with us every step of the way. We are feeling great and being well taken care of. It is a nice day here today – sunny with just a little bit of clouds.
