June 21, 2011 – The Team Goes to Sajama Base Camp
This is Osvaldo calling from our lodge near the base of Sajama. The weather is a bit chilly today, but otherwise it is very nice with no clouds, no wind – a perfect day. We packed our bags and sent them ahead of us on the backs of mules this morning. Soon we will leave for base camp and when we arrive, our gear will already be there and our tents will already be set up. Talk about service!
This morning we are all taking it easy. Some people are sitting around the natural hot springs nearby and others are playing cards which seems to be a favorite pastime for this group! It is beautiful here; there are many curious llamas, singing birds and snowy peaks around us.
Note from Berg Adventures Office:
The team arrived at Sajama Base Camp after a lovely hike on Tuesday afternoon. They spent the evening organizing gear, eating a delicious dinner, relaxing and, of course, playing cards.
