Kilimanjaro Expedition Dispatch

December 22, 2009 – Kevin’s Traverse of Kilimanjaro Has Begun

We received a telephone call from Kilimanjaro during the night of December 21st; Kevin was calling us during the afternoon on December 22nd Tanzania time. Kevin and his team have arrived at “Big Tree Camp” at an elevation of 6890ft (2100m). They are located on the west side of Kilimanjaro. Kevin is in a beautiful, wild setting and he is already thinking about the terrain ahead.

“Hi this is Kevin checking in on Tuesday. Things are good and we are on our way to Shira camp. We will check back in two days. Bye for now!”
