Why climb with Berg Adventures

Kilimanjaro Expedition Dispatch

September 8, 2008 – David Prepares for the Trail Less Traveled

Hello, this is Dave. I am now sitting out on the deck at the Snow Cap Cottages. I am getting ready to start up the mountain tomorrow on the Rongai Route. This is a trail less traveled, as I found out today. It sounds like it is going to be very exciting! I’ve been told that this route is steeper and has less people on it. The local people call the other side of the mountain the “Coca Cola” route because there are so many tourists going up the mountain.

Yesterday Ginny and I had a wonderful hike to a beautiful waterfall that we really enjoyed. And tonight I’m living it up eating pepper steak with a delicious red wine sauce, green beans, baked potato and pineapple for desert.

I’m assuming that things could get a little rougher from here on out but I am really looking forward to it! Ginny is off on her Bushmen adventure and I’m sure you’ll be hearing about some of her adventures. I will be keeping in touch and letting you know how things are going in the coming days. Bye for now!

David is enjoying his stay at the Snow Cap Cottages located at the beginning of the Rongai route. The atmosphere at the Cottages is astounding with views of Kilimanjaro right outside the front door.
