Aconcagua Expedition Dispatch
January 18, 2020 – At High Camp and in Position for Our Summit Attempt!
Osvaldo called into the BAI office from our high camp, "Berlin Camp", elevation 19,600 ft / 6000 m, at about 4:00 PM local time in Argentina today. The weather still seems good; there are a few clouds, but almost no wind. This team, Patrick, Shannon and Joe are still moving strongly and steadily. It only took them about 2 1/2 hours to climb up from the Nido de Condor camp. The weather forecast has indicated that tomorrow, Sunday should be a good day for the summit.
It is still a long way to the top! More that 3,500 feet! But the team will get settled down now for a good rest. Alex is preparing hot soup and a good meal for the guys to go to bed with. They will wake in the darkness and try to begin climbing just as it begins to get light, no later than 5:00 AM.
