Friends from Vancouver Illimani Expedition

These guys just can't get enough! In August 2016 they climbed to the summit of Africa's highest peak, Kilimanjaro together. One year ago, in May, 2018 they made a remarkable fast and successful trek all the way to Everest Base Camp.
Now the mountaineering sights are set higher. Illimani, at 6,439m. / 21,125ft., is the highest peak in Bolivia's Cordillera Real Range. It is also the second highest peak in all Bolivia and it is one of South America's most massive and dominating mountains.
Its glaciers gleam and fill the sky above the bustling and scenic city of La Paz, where traditional Native American life meets the modern world in a dramatic setting.
On May 7 they will fly from Vancouver to Santa Cruz in the Amazon and then continue on by aircraft on to La Paz at 4,000 meters on the altiplano. The next days will be about one of the world’s wildest mountain cultures, about acclimatization, about training in snow and glacier climbing techniques and, with luck, each member of this team will reach above the 20,000 ft. / 6,000 meter in atmosphere for the first time.
