December 29, 2018 – Hike from Confluencia to Plaza de Mulas in 7 hours!

Well, John says that they just could not hold Kara back. Osvi says that both John and Kara are extremely strong and they seem well prepared for this climb. At any rate, the weather was good, the mules were a bit late to pick up the bags but the hike went extremely well.

The team has arrived at their base camp, Plaza de Mulas!

Each day during the season, the Playa Ancha, the long approach up the Harcones Valley toward Plaza de Mulas is full of mules, dust, and mountaineers approaching the higher stages of this great mountain.

It is a long hike, but Kara had the time and energy for some bouldering along the way.
