Everest Base Camp Trek Dispatch
April 21, 2016 – We’ve Made it to Namche Bazaar!
The walk from Phakding to Namche is beautiful because the green of the river valley slowly changes to the more barren high altitude slopes slowly and all along the way there is the excitement of ascending to one of the most famous and active mountain towns in the world, Namche Bazaar!
Temba reported to us that the team left Phakding at 8:00 AM. Before lunch they entered Sagarmartha National Park. They stopped for lunch at the last village before the real climbing begins, the village of Jorsale. The trail winds along the banks of the Dudh Kosi River a bit further before the high spans of the famous Namche Bridge become visible. There are two bridges there now, and our team took the higher, more newly constructed of the two.
By 3:30 PM the team had arrived at our long time home, The Panorama Lodge. It has been 11 year since Garv was last here with Berg Adventures, but we are sure the welcome and the wonderful facilities felt familiar to him. Panorama and the colorful streets of Namche will be home for the next two nights so stay tuned for more photos and stories!
