Bolivia Expedition Dispatch
July 29, 2013 – Joe’s Final Dispatch
After a series of events stemming from getting food poisoning in a restaurant in La Paz, I decided that the best action would be to return home to recover. Osvaldo and the Berg Adventures team went to extraordinary measures to help us get better and showed great concern for our health and safety. I was thoroughly impressed by the professionalism and adaptability that they showed to try and help. We all agreed that this was a very strange-acting intestinal problem that did not behave like anyone expected. I think that everything possible was done and I didn't want to continue my adventure in a Bolivian hospital nor impact my friend, Martin, in his climbing adventure!
I have to look at this as a successful trip. We had a very fun climb and summited Pequeno Alpamayo then made a valiant attempt on Cabeza de Condor. I got to experience Bolivia for the first time and enjoy the hospitality of some great people. Berg Adventures continues to impress me with the service they provided. We had a great trip to Copacabana and the Lake Titicaca region. We had exceptional views of the mountains and great climbing conditions. Berg had a great, custom itinerary for us that provided the opportunity to climb a wide variety of Bolivian peaks. If I return to Bolivia, I will certainly go with Berg Adventures.
Cheers,
Joe
