Everest Base Camp Trek Dispatch
October 12, 2011 – The Team Arrives in Lukla
It is 6:30am and we are standing on the ground in Lukla. We had amazing luck this morning. Rupa and some other members of the team picked us up in two vans at the Yak and Yeti. By 4:45am we were first through the line for security at the airport and we very promptly got on the first plane to leave for Lukla. Now here we are - in cool mountain air with beautiful mountains all around us and the experiencing the excitement of our trip being underway.
I spoke to Temba by cell phone a little while ago. He and Domit and Lia will be heading down from Namche today. We will cross paths with them around lunchtime, perhaps in Phakding. We look forward to hearing about their adventures as they are just completing the trek that we are just beginning.
The team is looking excited and prepared, so here we go! We’ll keep you posted along the way.
