May 11, 2010 – Visit to the Tengboche Monastery and Pangboche
This is Temba calling from 11,000ft/3,350m at Pangboche.
(Transmission lost...)
We hiked up the Tengboche hill, which is a bit of a slog, and stopped in Tengboche for lunch at one of the most beautiful viewpoints on this trek. When the weather is clear, the view of the Tengboche monastery is framed by a view of Everest in the background. It is quite spectacular.
The hike on the trail today was made even more beautiful by the rhododendrons that are in full bloom. We saw every color from pink, to yellow, to red and white.
Tonight we will be staying at a lodge where my wife, Yangzing, who runs the lodge will take good care of us. We are all looking forward to some good food and a good sleep after an exciting day here.
Everybody is doing fine and looking forward to our trek to Pheriche tomorrow. Namaste!
