May 10, 2010 – Our Day in Khumjung and Khunde
This is Temba calling from Khumjung at 12,300ft above sea level. We are continuing to make our way up the Khumbu Valley.
This morning we hiked up to the Everest viewpoint from Namche where we also saw Ama Dablam and some other grand Himalayan mountains. Then we hiked to go see the Edmund Hillary Memorial which is in Khunde. We also visited the hospital while we were there.
When we finished our cultural visit, we stopped in for lunch at my house. Afterwards, we headed down to Khumjung to the Edmund Hillary School and also went to visit the monastery there, one of the oldest monasteries in the Khumbu.
When we arrived at our lodge, we had a wonderful dinner. The weather was awesome and we had great views all day. Everyone is in great spirits.
