November 15, 2009 – Well Deserved Rest Day!
Yesterday we left our hacienda in the Cayambe region early in the morning in order to arrive as soon as possible at our next hotel. It has private hot springs! Our muscles are still sore from climbing Cayambe. There is nothing like a nice relaxing massage followed by a soak in the hot springs right outside your room.
Retreating to the lower altitude here at the hot springs, 3300 meters, is a perfect system to help recover after a long climb. Everest climbers have been doing this for decades and it does help a lot! It allows you to rest and sleep better.
Yesterday on our entire drive here to Papallacta, we were rewarded with the views of Cotopaxi, the next volcano we are going to climb. Ken kept on asking to stop to take pictures, the views are amazing!
Now the team is rested, relaxed, packed and ready to go to Cotopaxi National Park.
