Everest Base Camp Trek Dispatch
October 27, 2019 – Leaving Kala Patar to Pangboche
The trip up the glacier to visit Everest Base Camp was a long day, but Adriana still had plenty of energy Saturday morning to climb Kala Patar, the 5,650 meter high mountain above Base Camp that many feel provide the best views of Everest. It was a cloudy morning but views of the mountain were great all the same. Temba got some great photos from the top.
Then it was time for the trip down to the warmth and luxury of Pangboche! It was a long way down but Adriana is really strong and the thought of kitchen at Temba and Yangee' lodge, Highland Sherpa Resort, made the trip go fast. Before you know it was time to enjoy yak steaks, beer and local Sherpa beer, Chang, Adriana also got lessons in how to make the traditional Sherpa Mo Mo's.
With the success of reaching Everest Base Camp and the top of Kala Patar behind there is still much to enjoy on this trek. Tomorrow the plan is to visit Ama Dablam Base Camp, which is about 3 hours walk from the lodge.
Here are a few photos from the "low" altitudes Pangboche is only 4,100 meters above sea level. Congratulations, Adriana! We look forward to hearing more as you start back down and visit friends from along the trail.
