Why climb with Berg Adventures

Aconcagua Expedition Dispatch

January 3, 2019 – Climbing to 18,200 feet (Nido de Condor Camp)

We got a report and some photos from Osvaldo and the team about how John, Kara and the team climb to Nido.

First “American Breakfast” was enjoyed. You can see from the photos that the weather is still clear as the team gets to higher altitudes on Aconcagua.

When they reached the “Nido de Condor” (Camp II) skies were still clear but the wind had picked up a bit.

It only took 3 hours to do the climb from Camp I to Camp II. They descended of course, because sleeping at the lower altitude of Camp I again will be essential for acclimatization.

Looking ahead into Friday and Saturday, the 4th and 5th, the weather report we have looks like windy. Clear skies although the winds will still be high.

We will wait for updates from Osvi by satellite phone, fingers crossed that the winds will improve and that John, Kara and their team are in position to go for the summit in the next few days.
