October 30, 2018 – Sightseeing in Kathmandu
The team met early this morning for their city tour and everyone was ready and excited to go.
They visited, Boudhanath, where there is the biggest stupa in the world and a must for any visitor to Nepal.
The April 2015 Nepal earthquake badly damaged the Stupa, severely cracking the spire. As a result, the whole structure above the dome, and the religious relics it contained had to be removed. The reconstruction began on 3 November 2015 with the ritual placement of a new central pole or "life tree" for the stupa at the top of the dome.
They also visit, Swayambhunath, also known as the monkey temple. They saw some entertaining scenes of the monkeys playing with each other and fighting for any piece of food that one might be carrying and not paying attention.
They went to Pashupati, which is the most famous Hindu temple in Nepal and also one of the seven World Heritage of Mankind sites of UNESCO in Kathmandu Valley. Pashupati is situated on the banks of the river Bagmati. The holy men are one of the biggest attractions.
When they finished their program they had a great lunch. After several hours walking, the restaurant was the perfect place to relax and hydrate themselves.
They finished their day with a game of golf! Now all they need to do is pack and get ready since they will be leaving the hotel at 5:30 AM for their flight to Luka and start their mountain adventure.
