August 27, 2015 – The Team Calls from the Summit of Acotango

Hello this is Paul.

Maria Osvaldo and I are standing on the summit of Acotango, August 27 around 11:15 AM.

Extremely beautiful and distinctive views across multiple volcanoes here. Fantastic view of Sajama and looking straight across to Chile.

We have made a couple of friends here from Chile. Clearly there is no concern about border protection between Bolivia and Chile up here.

Great climb. We had a few short sections at penitentes but now it’s just cramponing up to the top.

Beautiful day here in Bolivia and Chile.

Mount Acotango at 19,856ft/6,052m lies in the Sajama National Park on the border of Bolivia and Chile. It is the highest point in the group of three stratovolcanoes known as Kimsa Chata.
