Bolivia Expedition Dispatch

August 27, 2015 – The Team Calls from the Summit of Acotango

Hello this is Paul.

Maria Osvaldo and I are standing on the summit of Acotango, August 27 around 11:15 AM.

Extremely beautiful and distinctive views across multiple volcanoes here. Fantastic view of Sajama and looking straight across to Chile.

We have made a couple of friends here from Chile. Clearly there is no concern about border protection between Bolivia and Chile up here.

Great climb. We had a few short sections at penitentes but now it’s just cramponing up to the top.

Beautiful day here in Bolivia and Chile.

Have a great day!

Buh bye.

Mount Acotango at 19,856ft/6,052m lies in the Sajama National Park on the border of Bolivia and Chile. It is the highest point in the group of three stratovolcanoes known as Kimsa Chata. They are distinctive views for the few who venture along the lonely roads of Western Bolivia and northern Chile.
