Aconcagua Expedition Dispatch

January 28, 2015 – It’s Good to be at Plaza de Mulas

Well it’s just passed 6 PM and the entire Dirty Dozen team has arrived at Plaza de Mulas.

It was a long day I don’t want to kid you. We had excellent weather, almost unimaginably good weather.

The team was strong, they kept pushing. The entire team made it here, everyone under 10 hours.

We basically had two groups. I just arrived with the one group Josh, Trevor, Pedro and Elisa and Osvaldo and I, the six of us, just walked in. It took us about 9 hours and 50 minutes. Now Havier, Maria and the rest of the Dirty Dozen arrived at about 9 hours and 20 minutes. I am just looking ahead and they are already relaxing in our big tent up there.

So everything is great, we’ve got the entire team here. Avi and the head mule driver took off with us this morning, just as we left just past 8 o’clock. Of course he was long gone with the mule driver. We saw the mules running back down the hill with empty loads at about noon today. So we know our gear has been here for a while and of course we sent some things up ahead a couple of days ago.

This will be our Base Camp. We are happy to be here. We will give you reports on the weather and our health and how we are acclimatizing in the coming days.

It’s good to be at Plaza de Mulas.
