Why climb with Berg Adventures

Aconcagua Expedition Dispatch

January 12, 2015 – The Team Visits Plaza Canada

Well it’s 2:30 in the afternoon and I’m calling you from Plaza Canada, Camp I.

We’ve already made it to this exposed little ridge. It’s quite a small camp, but very beautiful at 5,060m above sea level.

We are carrying loads today, as you know and it took the group only 3 hours and 35 minutes to come all the way up here from Plaza de Mulas. So that was a very good time. We moved steadily, not too fast but we were efficient. We didn’t take long breaks and we just kept a steady pace.

It’s cloudy today. So we had a change in the weather. I’m not sure where that will take us in the coming days but we are setting up our cache here, leaving a lot of supplies and as you know we are going to go down to Plaza de Mulas for one more night. As a matter of fact I think we will call by radio and the team seems interested in ordering some golden brown French fries. They like them extra done, a little more crispy. We will order them on the way down and probably enjoy them by late afternoon.

So we have one more night at Plaza de Mulas. The report from Plaza Canada is that it looks like it’s going to be an exciting place to begin our climb up the mountain and we are looking forward to being back here tomorrow.
