Aconcagua Expedition Dispatch

January 7, 2015 – Aconcagua Provincial Park

Well here we go! It’s 10:10 AM and I’m calling from the Harconnes entry station to Aconcagua Provincial Park. We presented our permits, go them stamped, our bus has driven away and the crew is packed up and ready to go.

It’s a bit of a windy day. We are wearing light jackets on top most of them are wearing shorts. They’ve got light gloves on their fingers to keep their wrists warm in this slightly cool wind. We have put on our sunscreen.

The sky is beautiful over the clouds.

I can see the anticipation in this group, this nervousness and anxiousness about can I climb this mountain and what it is going to be like. But I can guarantee that it’s good to be underway finally and to be walking into the park and towards higher elevations on Aconcagua. We will be taking it slow and we will keep you posted as we leave that beautiful sign by the lagoon in a few more minutes that welcomes us to the park. Normally you get a nice view of the south face of Aconcagua behind it but today it is covered in clouds.

It is a beautiful day all the same and we are happy to be underway today on the 7th of January. Here we go!
