Sellers Family Everest Base Camp Trek Dispatch
October 24, 2013 – Exceptional Weather for Our First Views of Mount Everest
The photos that Ang Temba sent us today show that the Sellers have exceptionally clear weather for the beginning of their trek. These pictures were all taken on Thursday on the trek from Phakding to Namche. These are unusually clear skies! What a great start to the trek.
Scot, Alyssa and Keely with Khumbulaya, the sacred peak of the Sherpa People behind.
The mountain behind Scot in this photo is Tamserku, elevation 21,680 feet.
Just before lunch we entered Sagarmatha National Park, where we will spend the next 18 days.
Crossing the last bridge before the trail begins climbing to Namche Bazar
Our first view of Everest, from just past the bridge. It is a rare day when the skies are so clear in the afternoon that you can see this view.
Colorful Namche Bazar will be our home for the next two nights.
