Why climb with Berg Adventures

Mount Aratat & the Wonders of Turkey Expedition Dispatch

July 19, 2013 – A Great Day to Climb Mt. Hasan: Part I

I’m calling you from 2,830 meters above sea level, high on Mt. Hasan in Turkey. I’m here with this incredible group of strong and adventurous Dutchmen. These fellows have had decades of experience together as colleagues and companions in adventures around the world. We have been hearing stories about Pakistan, Nepal, all parts of Africa, across Russia and South America. I can’t think of a part of the world where, in small groups or individually, these guys have not been. I’m honored to be here with them now in Turkey climbing and enjoying learning about the culture and the beauty of this wonderful country.

Now we will see about climbing Mt. Ararat. This was our first significant climb, we have climbed 900 meters and we are descending now into the clouds. It’s been a beautiful day and I am proud to be with this group and we are having a fantastic climb.

Thank you to Charles and Jan Kees for the great photos and videos they took today!
