Why climb with Berg Adventures

Aconcagua Expedition Dispatch

January 2, 2013 – Our Team is Superhuman

Leaving from Plaza Canada on Aconcagua on the 2nd of January, a few hours since I sent you the photos that we took from the medical center down at Plaza de Mulas this morning. The group made excellent time coming up here. Maria came a bit ahead of the rest of us. Osvaldo, Sergio, Dan, Neil, and I walked up here in roughly about three hours from Plaza de Mulas, really a good ascent rate. We’ve had a cache here for a couple of days now, and right now we’re unloading a lot of gear into two camps that we’ve erected here. Believe it or not, Osvaldo and Sergio are going to carry on now with huge packs and carry our load all the way up to Nido de Condor Camp or Camp Two.

We’ll all be back at Plaza de Mulas this evening; Sergio and Osvaldo after superhuman effort carrying all the way to Nido and back down, and Maria, Dan, Neil, and I are heading down right now for Plaza de Mulas. The team is making great progress; I didn’t mention that the weather is just excellent. No wind; we’re sitting here in the sunshine at this high altitude so we’re feeling really good about life today on Aconcagua.

Neil wasted no time in finding a spot to stretch out and relax for a while before we descended back to Plaza de Mulas.
