October 25, 2011 – Back to Namche

The team left Pangboche early this morning where they were presented with katas by Yangzing, Ang Temba’s wife. Kata is a traditional silk scarf common on Tibetan culture; it symbolizes purity and compassion and it is given by the host to his/her guests.

The 14th Dalai Lama is known to offer kata as a gift to diplomats, monks and visitors symbolizing the beginning of a relationship.
