October 22, 2010 – Our First Day in Torres del Paine
It is nice to be settled in our lodge inside Torres del Paine National Park. Today each of us followed our own program. This is what we call a rest day. Reginald was on his own for a bit, trying to rest his knee which is still recovering from the long hike in Argentina. George went out to shoot in the early morning and is out now in the evening as we send these photos. Sharon and Sue put in 20 kilometres on the Seron trail which begins a short distance from the lodge.
We will be in Torres del Paine, exploring and hiking for the next six days.
We will base from this beautiful lodge, Los Torres.
George left at 5:30 AM and was gone for 4 hours shooting in morning light. He relaxed in the midday.
Sue went on an 20 kilometre hike today.
Sharon on the trail - they were back by 2:30 PM, just a little warm up stroll.
Along the way they had views of the towers.
Francisco is one of the attentive staff here at the hotel.
With her pack still on after hiking all morning, Sharon still looks fresh.
Sue relaxing in the lobby after her hike
Beautiful horses graze around the hotel.
Tomorrow we begin the first leg of the “W” trek.
