Why climb with Berg Adventures

Elbrus Expedition Dispatch

August 4, 2010 – Moving up to the Barrels

Karina sent us a message today from Garabashi, the location of the famous “Barrels”, at 12,304 ft/3,750m. This will be Jack and Scott's base in the coming days as they prepare for their summit attempt on Mount Elbrus on the 7th or 8th, depending on the weather.

Jack, Scott, Karina, and Vladimir ascended up the glacier to the “Refuge 11” site at 13,452ft/4,100m for further acclimatization today, and then returned to the Barrels to enjoy fresh hot soup that Anastasia, our Berg Adventures cook, had prepared.

"Team Mimi" will be heading up to Pashtukov Rocks for further acclimatization training tomorrow morning.

Karina also said we should mention that Jack and Scott would like to send lots of kisses to Mimi! Both men are feeling great as we move up the mountain.
