Everest Base Camp Trek Dispatch

October 10, 2008 – The Team is on Their Way to EBC!

Ang Temba called this morning with good news! The weather cleared and the team landed in Lukla. They are on their way through the Khumbu Valley to their goal, Everest Base Camp. From the village of Lukla approximately 2,840 meters (9,150 feet) they will hike through the lush green vegetation down into Phakding 2,610 m (8,900 ft). They will spend the night here next to the glacial roar of the Dudh Kosi River. Tomorrow they will cross the first big suspension bridge and begin their 2,500 ft vertical ascent up a hill to our home base in Namche 3,440 m (just over 11,200 ft). Please stay tuned when the team reports from Namche tomorrow.
