Bolivia Expedition Dispatch
June 16, 2008 – More La Paz Adventures
Karen, Bonnie and several of the rest of the group were quick to hit the streets of La Paz on Sunday after they arrived. They visited the "Witches Market", where truly unique Bolivian handicrafts can be found.
When Rob Dunn arrived from Halifax he graciously told Leila to upgrade his room to a suite, so the group could have a nice place to hang out. Rob's "Pleasure Palace" became our headquarters for meeting and hanging out.
Roy with Mia, a Danish Chef, whose restaurant, specializes in traditional Bolivian dishes prepared with organic foods from suppliers carefully chosen by Mia and her staff.
Our Welcome Dinner, June 15th. We chose Mia's restaurant because it offered us an excellent sampling of traditional Bolivian foods.
Group photo from Rob's room which was the site of our team briefing on Sunday morning and has been our favourite hangout when we come in from the street.
Our Hotel, The Europa
We found that there is new program downtown involving civic "safety zebras" who help pedestrians through the city traffic.
