Aconcagua Expedition Dispatch
January 7, 2020 – Mendoza Argentina. The Team Has Arrived and the Aconcagua Climbing Permits are Issued
It is a different world down there. It is summertime in Mendoza Argentina. Climbing season on the highest mountain in South America is underway and our team from Canada and the US along with Berg Adventures normal Bolivian support team have arrived.
Bright and sunny Mendoza is a long way from the high altitude rigors of Aconcagua; it is necessary to obtain our climbing permits here however and our traditional base of operations, the Park Hyatt Mendoza is not a bad place to begin.
Joe and Shannon in from Canada on Sunday and Patrick arrived Monday evening.
We were organized with the permit paperwork and had everything we needed by Tuesday morning.
These photos will give and idea what it is like to arrive in Mendoza, get permits and start out for the mountain.
Duffel Bags! Team met at the airport by Alex, BAI cook and mountain staff.
And Cesar, who has been greeting BAI climbers going to Aconcagua for the last 15 years was waiting at the Hyatt.
