Patagonia: Torres del Paine Expedition Dispatch
December 25, 2016 – Christmas Day at Las Torres
Osvaldo called us today to convey Merry Christmas best wishes from one of our favorite places in the world, Torres del Paine National Park, Chile.
Nathan, Lena, Cole, Staci and Osvaldo had a good transfer from Argentina into Chile on Friday. Their destination, Las Torres, a fantastic place to spend Christmas. It’s summertime in Chile of course, but Christmas spirit abounds in this remote hotel, with guests from around the world enjoying Patagonia.
Christmas Eve was a rest day with yoga session given by Staci, but today was all about hiking. The team started out at 8:30 in the mourning bound for Mirador las Torres. There are a lot of people on the trail this holiday season but the natural beauty and space around are felt at every step. Clouds were obscuring views of the Towers in the morning but when the team reached the top they did come into view during lunch break.
By 5:30 PM everyone was back at Hotel Las Torres. Christmas Dinner was an excellent buffet at their restaurant.
Lena and Staci report that the massages at Las Torres are even better than they were at El Chalten in Argentina. Well deserved after hiking for nine hours!
