Everest Base Camp Trek Dispatch
May 8, 2016 – Great End to a Great Trek: Lukla and Kathmandu
Last Wednesday Kylie and Garv and their team walked away from Namche toward Phakding along the Dudh Kosi River, the first village they had stayed back at the beginning of the trek.
On Thursday they walked back to the bustling airport town of Lukla, the end of the trail as far as the walking goes.
After a trip of perfect weather, it probably should have been expected that some bad weather was going to have to come eventually. Friday flights did not make it to Lukla, so a second night with the BAI staff at Lukla’s Paradise Lodge was necessary.
Saturday the weather was good for flying however and the team made it back to Kathmandu and the Yak and Yeti in the morning.
Ang Temba’s photos capture some of these last days spent along the trail and enjoying lodge life as well as the first part of the team’s return to Kathmandu.
