Aconcagua Expedition Dispatch
January 11, 2016 – The Team Rotation to Camp Canada at 16,000ft
Well we did, we did our first carry to a camp on the mountain. We went to Plaza Canada, Camp I, about 16,000ft today.
The team made it up there in about 3 hours and 10 minutes, it was at slow pace, believe it or not, we kept steady and we kept moving.
Two of our team members from our Bolivia staff, Javier and Efrain, carried all the way to Camp II today as well.
As you can see from these photos Camp I was actually great, no wind, not very cold, made us all feel really good. You can tell everybody looks good.
The guys who went to Camp II reported complete snow up there; we will be sleeping on snow when we arrive. I went to Camp II today.
We got a good forecast in the coming days, some indication that will be snow and higher winds tomorrow, but we may, if it looks good move up tomorrow anyway.
In either case, tomorrow or the next day, we will move up, occupy camp I this time and we will be on our way for the summit of Aconcagua. We will keep you posted and we hope you enjoy these photos.
