Everest Base Camp Trek Dispatch

October 18, 2015 – Sitting at the Eco Lodge

It’s Sunday and the team has settled into the Eco Lodge at 15,800ft. After checking out our bedrooms, which look cozy and warm, we sat back and enjoyed a view of the Himalayan blue skies while nibbling on some popcorn and sipping a fresh brew of tea. These comforts are welcomed as we move higher up towards Everest base camp, into the cooler, thin air.

We spent two nights in Pheriche at 14,000ft. It was important for us to stay at this altitude to allow our bodies more time to acclimatize. Today, we had perfect weather for our trek towards Lobuche. On our way up the Khumbu glacier (a lateral moraine), we stopped for a visit at the Sherpa Memorial and Scott Fischer’s Chorten.
